S4 E10: The Language of Trust with Ingrid Christensen, CEO and Founder of INGCO
Wednesday Dec 07, 2022
Wednesday Dec 07, 2022
Did you know that from a revenue standpoint, the translating and interpreting industry is larger than the global music industry? It didn’t take long for Ingrid Christensen to fall in love with the profession of interpreting. From babies being born to people taking their last breath, she was present for some of the most profound moments in people’s lives. One job posting as a “scheduler” for a translating company led to a career in entrepreneurship, building INGCO International: a company whose mission is to provide a voice to the voiceless. Seventeen years into her business, INGCO provides services in translation and interpretation globally in over 200 languages.
Twenty-five years into her career, Ingrid still loves the art, job and profession of translation. So, in early 2023, she will be releasing her first book, The Language of Trust: The Art of Cultivating Leadership. Watch for it! Ingrid takes a deep dive into the crucial ingredient that makes businesses, cross-cultural communications, and human relationships tick: trust.
In this episode, we discuss just that. Have you ever thought how many languages have to be translated in order to get a banana picked from a tree into your local grocery store? We discuss the varying levels of trust, the importance of self trust and vulnerability, and how to live, embrace, and embody the best version of yourself every day. You will leave this episode inspired, educated, and ready to take on your world.

This episode is a true tribute of thanks. Greg Hoyt, owner of Rustica Bakery, has believed in our mission from the beginning as our first and longest sponsor of The View in Your Mirror. An entrepreneur born and raised in Southern California and the islands of Hawaii, Greg has a story that is best told in a coffeehouse. This special episode was recorded, live, in house at Rustica Bakery Edina.
Originally a student of music, Greg’s career in entrepreneurship started in 1993 at Minnesota founded, Caribou Coffee, after learning that he had stage fright with music performance. It was through his experiences there that he was motivated and inspired to build something of his own as he watched Caribou build through a meaningful mission. In 2009, after a conversation over a baguette with the original Rustica Bakery owner, Steve, Greg joined the business to truly make Rustica the neighborhood craft bakery it is today. Greg opened the doors to specialty coffee and found a niche that became DOGWOOD coffee. In 2015, Greg became full owner.
Greg has expanded his passion for entrepreneurship in the food ecosystem space through his establishment Gather Venture Group. This investment fund provides resources for emerging food and beverage brands.
Though this podcast shares the story of our favorite local bakery and coffeehouse, it is so much deeper than that. This is an episode for all the emerging and established entrepreneurs, for the life-long learners, and for the individual who could use a reminder of how to look at failures as successes. This is truly a podcast for everyone. We are so thankful to Rustica and we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Our Non-Profit Spotlight is Bricks to Bread who help build brick ovens for Costa Rican families seeking a sustainable source of income, while bringing communities together.

We’ve known Pat Miles Zimmerman through our TVs for a long time. Pat was a revered part of the Twin Cities media landscape for more than a quarter of a century as former TV news anchor for WCCO-TV and KARE 11. Now, we share her with you as the best selling author for a new book, Before All Is Said and Done. This is a book we truly believe EVERYONE should own, read, listen to, and have in their home. Pat lost her husband Bucky Zimmerman to pancreatic cancer a few short months from the time the diagnosis was made. As Pat will tell you, she felt they were fully set for life, but quickly learned, they were not set for death.
Let’s be honest here: we all are fearful and/or uncomfortable talking about death, but the fact is, we all die. This episode is not morbid. This episode is not shared to create fear or sadness. Instead, it’s the opposite: this episode is to provide education, encouragement, support, and empowerment in this typically uncomfortable topic. It is shared to inspire all of you to be your own advocate and have your own voice before someone else has to speak for you. Listeners and future readers will appreciate this common sense guide to preparing for and dealing with one of life’s greatest challenges.
Our Non-Profit Spotlight is Brighter Days Grief Center

She is truly a woman's best friend that you can carry with you daily, especially if you have one of her pieces.
